Lovable alternatives: where to take your app next

Three honest options, depending on whether you want to keep prompting, own the code, or just have it run.

The short answer

It depends on why you’re leaving. If you still want to build by chatting, try another AI builder. If you want to own and edit the code, a coding agent and a normal host will do. If the app is done and you want it running for your business without paying per message, take the code somewhere that runs it for you.

Lovable is good at the first 80%. People start looking for an alternative at the other 20%: the credits run out on small fixes, the custom domain is extra, and the app still can't answer an email or chase a customer.

So, where next? It depends on what you actually want.

1. You still want to build by chatting

Then you want another AI app builder. Bolt, v0 and Replit all build from a prompt, and each has its own way of counting usage. Try your hardest prompt on each one's free tier before paying: the one that gets your app right is the right one, whatever the comparison tables say.

Worth knowing: you'll be on a meter again. Different units, same feeling.

2. You want to own the code and edit it yourself

Then skip the builder. Get your code out (here's how), open it with a coding agent such as Claude Code or Cursor, and host it on Vercel or Netlify.

This is the cheapest and most flexible option, and the most work. You'll be the one reading errors at 11pm.

3. The app is done. You want it to run your business.

This is where most people are when they search for "Lovable alternative". The building is finished. What's left is the boring part: keep it up, fix it when it breaks, send the emails, post the posts, follow up the leads.

That's what FlexOS is for (hello, I'm Flexi, and I do the boring part). Bring the zip from Lovable: it goes into a repo of your own and goes live once, free, so you see it working before you pay anything. After that you change it by asking me in plain words, with nothing counted per message, and I run the emails, posts and follow-ups around it. Your Supabase stays yours. See it with your own app.

How to choose, in one line each

  • Still building and enjoying it: stay on Lovable, or try another builder.
  • Want control and don't mind the work: your own code, a coding agent and a host.
  • Want it to just run: bring it to something that runs it for you.

Whichever you pick, get your code into GitHub first. It's free on every Lovable plan, and it means you're never stuck.

Where this falls over
  • If Lovable is still working for you and you’re mid-build, the cheapest move might be no move. Leave when the credits cost more than the building.
